Grief Companion Program
LifeNet Health’s Grief Companion® Program pairs donor families seeking emotional support through their grief journey with other donor families who have walked a similar path. These companions understand the unique experience of grief and offer support to others as they mourn. Our program provides a safe environment where you can connect with an understanding companion you can trust.
Being able to express grief and talk to someone who understands can be invaluable. However, those closest to us may also be grieving and might hold back from sharing their emotions to protect us. This mutual grief can create a barrier, leaving us to navigate the journey alone.
Your Grief Companion will be an empathetic listener, allowing you to share stories, cry, and help you to cope with the upcoming anniversaries and holidays. They can answer questions such like, “Is it normal to…?” and offer comforting words based on their own experiences.
Some companions interact frequently by phone, email, or social media, while others communicate occasionally or on an as-needed basis. Your grief journey is unique, and this program is designed to provide support when and how you need it most.
If you are interested in having a Grief Companion, please contact us and use the subject line “I want a Grief Companion.” A Donor Family Services staff member that will provide a detailed explanation of how the program works and answer your questions.
